Tara Servatius and everybody who is anybody in 8th District

Earlier this week I received a call that Tara Servatius, from WBT  1110 AM, claimed to have spoken with “everybody who is anybody” in the TEA Party movement. And none of them support Tim D’Annunzio. Isn’t Tara supposed to be an “investigative reporter”?  If she was, she would have contacted someone in We The People of the Sandhills. However, she did not.I called Tara’s show at WBT in Charlotte, however she refused to take my call. The first person to answer the phone asked me what I wanted to tell Tara. When I told her, she put me on hold for 5 minutes then came back on and said that Tara was moving on to a different subject that I would have to call back. I asked her why I wasn’t be allowed to speak to Tara, and she said that is not what she said, that she was moving on from Tim and the TEA Party subject, that I can call back about then next subject. I called back and the second person still refused to put me thru. I also gave the man my phone number and I still have not received a call from Tara.

Seems Tara, along with Keith Larson, have joined with the liberal media, to make sure Tim, who by the way won the most votes, doesn’t win in the runoff. Tim faces a man who has no clue about the issues, who has never lived in the district, who has never created a job anywhere, whose only talent is reading from the teleprompter.
 
We The People of the Sandhills sent out a questionnaire to all candidates and it seems that Tim D’Annunzio was the ONLY one who cared what the people thought. Below you will find the questionnaire and the answers by Tim.

We The People of the Sandhills are wanting a candidate that represents us, who knows the Constitution. Who will read the bills and apply the test of constitutionality? This nation is in trouble. The debt amount is at the point of no return. All because of the Democrats AND Republicans whose desire of control over the people and desire to remain in office by bringing “earmarks” back to their districts. That is theft my friends.

Before he made his name at the Alamo, he was in the US Congress. His actions and the confrontation of a constituent should serve as a reminder to ALL that OUR MONEY is not the governments to give. WE THE PEOPLE are the most generous in the world. We do not need the government to take from us to help someone else. This is the churches fault I do believe. The church bought into the social security, welfare state and relinquished it’s job of stepping in to help the widow,the children and the alien. Now when someone goes to the “church” they are told of services at the local govt. This should not be. I ran into a homeless man after the April 15th TEA Party here in Fayetteville and he had gone into the church near the post office and they directed him to social services. Really? For me, that church should have helped and whatever that man did with the help is between him and God! Now that church will have to answer for their obvious disobedience.

GOVERNMENT REGULATORY CONTROL OVER BANKS

The sub-prime economic crisis cost Americans $8 trillion in retirement funds and home value.

The roots of the sub-prime market crash go back to 1977 when President Jimmy Carter signed into law the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). The Federal Government pressured banks to make sub-prime home loans to people who had poor credit scores and not enough income to meet their mortgage payments.

In 1994 the Clinton administration set new regulations to score banks on their compliance. Banks that didn’t have enough sub-prime loans found it difficult to get government approval for merging with other banks or even to open new branches.

Complaints from community organizations would lower a banks compliance score. The Senate Banking Committee estimated that $9.5 billion has gone to pay for services and salaries of community organizations. That included $760 million to ACORN.

In 1966 the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) gave Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (government sponsored enterprises) the goal of purchasing sub-prime mortgages. The goal was 42 percent of their mortgage financing had to go to borrowers with income below the median in their area.

Government regulatory intrusion into the mortgage banking industry hurt us all. But for the people it was trying to help, the low income person trying to buy a home, it was absolutely devastating when their homes went into foreclosure and they were ruined financially.

Would you, if elected to office, have the courage to stand up to the party you caucus with and say “NO” to this type of regulatory control over private industry?

HEALTH CARE

Progressives and Liberals in the Democrat and Republican Party want to use government to take over Health Care (one-sixth of our economy) and thereby are able control every aspect of our lives.  Assuming Government Health Care is overturned, would you consider a common sense legislative approach that would stop them from ever attempting a Health Care takeover again?

Incentivize people to start Health Savings Account (HSA’s).  For every dollar you put in your HAS, the government will give you a two dollar tax credit.  Also, for every dollar your employer puts in your HSA, they would also get a two dollar tax credit.

Advantages

*  You have the freedom to spend your money, in your Health Savings Account, the way you want without having the government or the insurance company giving you permission.

*  Swipe your HSA card and pay for doctors visits, hospital expenses, prescriptions, even monthly payments for a major medical plan with a high deductable, 10 or 20K, to keep the payments low.

*  If you are spending your money, in your HSA, you will shop for the lowest price.  Doctors and Hospitals will not need a large staff to fight the government or insurance company for payment.  You receive the service, swipe your card, and it’s done.  Collectively this will reduce the price of Health Care.

*  People that are relatively healthy and keep their HSA’s in an interest bearing account will leave this as a tax free inheritance for their children.  Countries that have similar programs don’t have the working poor that we have.  When children inherit their parents HAS, they are able to buy a home, pay off their auto loan, and live virtually debt free.

*  If most people have HSA’s and are self sufficient, then government can use their resources to help that segment of the population that really needs help.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

To slow illegal immigration, would you be in favor of setting up a government web site where employers can check Social Security numbers and verify US citizenship prior to employment?  Businesses that choose not to check the web site or hire people knowing they are illegal should be fined.  The fine should be modest at first and increase with each offence until the employer complies.

LOCAL CONTROL OF EDUCATION

In the 1902 census records 97% of U.S. citizens could read and write.  Today, a full third of our young people are illiterate or functionally illiterate (can read but not understand what they read).

New Zealand started a common sense program that catapulted their standing from 17th in quality of education in industrialized nations to 2nd in two years. 

The money allocated for schools was given to the local school districts on a per pupil basis.  All control over schools…personnel selection, teachers pay, curriculum, everything…was given to the local school board in each community.  To serve on the school board you had to have a child in school.

Every community has talented individuals willing to serve, and what segment of the population could do a better job than…….parents?!!

If given the opportunity to get state and federal government out of our schools and have Local Control of Education, how would you vote?

LOWER TAXES

When Ronald Reagan was running for President his staff urged him to meet with a young Congressman, Jack Kemp, and listen to his ideas about the economy.  President Reagan adopted Kemp’s idea for “Supply Side Economics”.  He stopped President Carter’s wage and price controls, and lowered taxes.  The combination of stopping government regulation of the economy and allowing people to keep more of their own money gave us the largest and longest economic boom the U.S. has ever had.  In the eight years of Reagan’s administration, the economy grew to such an extent the Internal Revenue Service took in 75% more money.  The logical question would be, “how can you lower taxes and take in more taxes”?  The answer is; there were so many more people working and paying taxes that the Federal Government increased their income by 3/4ths.

Congress presents legislation that has hundreds, and sometimes thousands of pages.  With this volume anything can be hidden and passed because they go unread.  Then all the politician has to say is, “It was in the bill and we all voted for it”.

Senator Bill Nelson from Nebraska sold his vote for government health care by eliminating his state from any additional Medicare expense.  Now that government health care has passed the other 49 states have to pay for Nebraska’s Medicare expense.

TORT REFORM

In other countries the loser pays in a law suit.  In the U.S. it is very expensive to defend yourself against a law suit, but very inexpensive to sue.   It is not uncommon to use a law suit to intimidate, or to extort money from someone or a company owning assets.  Lawyers like our system because it encourages law suits. When efforts are made to change to a “loser pays system” they hide behind statements like, “our system protects the poor and allows them to sue at very little or no expense”.  Sounds good to be the protector of the poor.  The reality is this: if a poor person had a winnable complaint the lawyer would take the case and be paid if he was successful.

Those that fight against Tort Reform (which would institute “loser pays”) want to keep the system as is, so as to:

* give additional work and pay for lawyers.

* use a law suit to intimidate people, to silence their complaint.

* use bogus law suits against corporations, and individuals with deep pockets to extort money out of them.  They know that many will pay to protect their reputation and their business.

VOTER ID CARD

In the 2008 Presidential Election 56.8% of voters actually voted.  That’s 96,992,000 votes.   The total number of ballots in the ballot box was 132,618,580.  That is 35,626,580 too many votes counted.  If the integrity of the electoral process is not insured, and we allow fraud, can we continue to be a free people?

Character assassination just might backfire on the arrogant Fetzer…

This morning I spent four hours making calls for Tim D’Annunzio. The majority of people seem to be even more galvanized in their support of Tim, by the attacks of the NC GOP. The phones were ringing off the hook with calls of support, even from people that had supported Harold in the primary. And more people have volunteered since before the May 4th election.

I met Tim D’Annunzio in the November, at his office in Raeford. My first impression was this was a man of passion. For his family, his country and for the Constitution, which at one time he was sworn to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I thought to myself that he should have been a candidate for the Constitution Party. Because his beliefs and stance on the issues were more in line with them than that of the Republican Party of today.

We The People had heard a rumor that Jim Morrill was working on a story on Tim. What was surprising in this story was Tom Fetzers supposed shock at some of the things said. Tim was quite honest with Fetzer when he made the decision to run for Congress. He wanted him to know about his past, so there wasn’t a surprise attack from the Democrat Party. Seems Tim’s honesty comes from WHO he belongs to. Who would have known that the vicious attacks would come from within his very own party?

What is quite offensive, is Tom Fetzer seems to think We The People are stupid and don’t do our homework! No Tom, after the election of 2008…We The People will NEVER make that mistake again. You see Tom we knew of Tims past. We asked questions, CONTINUALLY. Tim was the ONLY candidate to answer the questionnaire that WTP of the Sandhills emailed to all of the candidates. And he has been open to all questions, especially the extremely personal ones. Tim and Colleen have not shied away from the tough questions. Seems the state GOP pick, from Boone, didn’t care what the voters of District 8 thought.

Of course, right off the bat, Tim, a man of principles, butt heads with Tom and the County Chair Suzanne Rucker. Suzanne had a dog in the fight and she made it known. Even when his numbers polled low across the district. Seems being the only candidate “born” in the 8th District didn’t work for him.

Though her words were never in print, they were made quite apparent, at times by bizarre behavior. Case in point, at the March Fourth Friday in downtown Fayetteville, she didn’t invite the Congressional candidates from all 3 districts, because she didn’t want Tim there. When word got out about the Meet the Candidate, the candidates were told if there was room after all the local candidates set up then they could have one, but it was first come,first served. Even a candidate from another district fell prey to one of her lackeys “just helping out”. I really hate slick “willies” pretending to be someone they are not…and he knows who he is.

So with all that said, let’s get to the article. First may I ask, who of you has been thru a divorce? Was it an amicable one? If you haven’t been thru one do you have a close friend that has? Divorce is ugly, it causes 2 people that once promised “for better,for worse” to become what outsiders would see as mortal enemies. I am a child from a broken home. I have been witness to things that children should never see, especially from their parents.  One or both parties say things to make the other look bad to the judge. Especially when children are involved. So the court proceedings was nothing more than he said, she said.

Tim has admitted to making bad decisions when he was 14, 38 years ago.. Who among you can say they always made the right decisions at 14?  I will be honest with you, I did not. I am embarrassed when I think about all that I did. However, after coming to Christ, I too am no longer the person I once was.

And how about that “collective endorsement” from the NC Congressmen Coble, Myrick, Jones, Foxx and McHenry? How arrogant of them to come out against the will of the people! Tim won the most votes. Do they really think they know what’s best for us? No, these people are part of the ESTABLISHMENT, part of the problem and more than likely seeing dollar signs from the GOP.

I have received emails from several voters in the 8th District. I am including them to show that We The People CANNOT be controlled by any party. We The People are the 4th arm of the government, not the two parties bent on ruining this nation. All for the sake of CONTROL!

In light of your recent attacks against Tim D’Annunzio and his campaign, you have broken the Plan Of Organization rules.  Therefore, I formally request your resignation as Chairman.  Instead of allowing the voters of the 8th District to decide for themselves who they want to represent them, you have simultaneously muddied the water with your slanderous rhetoric and disgraced the position that you currently hold.  The NC Republican Party claims to be the party of honesty, integrity and letting the people decide.  How dare you encroach on these principles!  If you truly believe in and stand by your actions, I would suggest that you switch to the Democratic Party.  You’ll find many like-minded friends there, I’m sure.  Otherwise, resign.

When I am going to vote for someone, I like to personally meet them, have an opportunity to ask them questions, and get my information “right from the horse’s mouth” so to speak.  Last night, Mary and I attended a Town Hall meeting in Oakboro, NC for Tim D’ Annunzio, candidate for Congress here in Stanly County. 
 
Much has been said about Mr. D’ Annunzio in the last few weeks by the Charlotte Observer, WBT radio, and the NC GOP.  With all this “info” in mind, I was most interested to see what he had to say for himself in front of an audience of Stanly County citizens and others.  Following are the notes we made at the meeting.  You will of course decide for yourselves whom to cast your vote for in the runoff election between Tim and Harold Johnson.

Personal Facts: Raised in a family of 8.  Italian.  Tough side of Philadelphia.   Not a college grad. (More than half our President’s never went to college.) He is “self taught” from his life and business experiences.  Considers himself a businessman, not a politician.
Will NOT run from attacks on his person.  Believes in the Federalist Papers, as they describe what should be in the Constitution.
 
Believes in God, and that God has changed his life.  Says “God made me as I am, and I will run from no one.”  Afraid of no one in DC. 
Ø  OPENLY discussed his past, drug use, military career option, marriage, divorce, etc.           
                                   
Ø  On “Mass Media coverage in last few days: “They never exclude the “non-truths” otherwise they’d have no controversy to “sell” to their public.  Sound bites and innuendos.
 
Ø  Has no higher political ambitions.  Will serve without a salary, and if he has to take one, will donate it to worthy causes. 
 
Ø  Believes the Government is the ONLY entity that survives by TAKING not PRODUCING money!  Says the National Debt is in excess of 13 Trillion and is 90% of GDP! ($117,000 per family if you consider those who don’t pay taxes!)
 
Ø  Current massive Government programs were never intended by Founding Fathers.  Suggest you read “5000 Year Leap.” Outlines basic principles of the founding of our country.
 
Ø  Believes the Dept. of Education should be dissolved and returned to the States to manage. Same for SS, Dept. of Energy and others. 
 
Ø  Term Limits:  Apply to Supreme Court Justices as well as Representatives and Senators.  NO lifetime jobs! 
 
Ø  Foreign Aid & the UN:  NEVER give money to countries to use against us!  Get out of the UN and quit funding it! 
 
Ø  Unions:  Have served their purpose. Believes we should have let GM go bankrupt and then they could have renegotiated their Union contracts.  Believes we bailed out the Union, not GM!  Believes the Obama Administration is pro-Union-Government and anti the people’s Government.
 
Ø  Government Spending:  It’s out of control!  MUST get a handle on spending.  Must re-evaluate everything we spend money on!  Government should be run like a business! 
 
Ø  IMMIGRATION: Supports Governor of Arizona and Immigration Laws.  Must enforce laws. Not fair that illegals can got to a Doctor’s office or Hospital and receive equal or better care that citizens and taxpayers.   We NEED TO KNOW WHO IS IN OUR COUNTRY!   Finish the fence, deport illegal’s.  Treat them fairly while in custody, provide transportation home.  Money saved will more than finance that.

Is it me or do those elected not realize what they say is recorded for posterity? As we have seen with the Connecticut Attorney General who has LIED about his service IN Vietnam. The house has passed the massive bill that would nationalize Health Care.  The Senate will debate it next. This bill is set to start in 2013. The real battle will be in the Congressional Elections of 2010 and 2012.

We would like for you to join this citizens’ grassroots movement to take back our government, one House and one Senate seat at a time. Our Congressional representatives make promises while campaigning, but face few consequences when they vote against those promises and our interests.

The consequences of the Government taking over Health Care (one-sixth of our economy) and mandating how we live our lives is an issue that has steeled our resolve to the point that the average citizen is willing to get involved. How to Register and Vote During One-Stop Absentee

A North Carolina resident who is qualified to vote but who misses the 25-day deadline for voter registration may register and vote at a One-Stop Site during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period. The One-Stop Voting period extends from 19 to 3 days before Election Day.

The process is sometimes referred to as “Same-Day Registration,” but it is important to recognize that it not permitted on Election Day itself.

Acceptable forms of identifications include:

  • A North Carolina driver’s license with current address
  • A utility bill with name and current address
    • A telephone or mobile phone bill
    • An electric or gas bill
    • A cable television bill
    • A water or sewage bill
  • A document with name and current address from a local, state, or U.S. government agency, such as:
    • A passport
    • A government-issued photo ID
    • U.S. military ID
    • A license to hunt, fish, own a gun, etc.
    • A property or other tax bill
    • Automotive or vehicle registration
    • Certified documentation of naturalization
    • A public housing or Social Service Agency document
    • A check, invoice, or letter from a government agency
    • A birth certificate
  • A student photo ID along with a document from the school showing the student’s name and current address.
  • A paycheck or paycheck stub from an employer or a W-2 statement
  • A bank statement or bank-issued credit card statement

If you cannot supply an acceptable form of identification for Proof-of-Residence, your registration application cannot be fully processed until the required information is provided.

Registered voters may also update their address and change vital information in an existing registration record at the One Stop Site, but they are not allowed to change their party affiliation during the One Stop Voting period that precedes a partisan primary.

Man Alleges Sexual Assault By Soles

RALEIGH — A 47-year-old North Carolina man says that when he was 13 years old State Sen. R. C. Soles Jr. of Tabor City lured him to his secluded lakeside home, plied him with alcohol, and sexually assaulted him.

The man said Soles, 74, a 40-year veteran of the North Carolina General Assembly and chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus, threatened him and his family to gain his silence.

“He told me if I ever told anyone he would make life hell for me and my parents,” he told Carolina Journal in an interview videotaped the week of Oct. 19. The man, who did not want his real name used or his face shown on camera, will be called Jay in this story.

Jay said the first incident occurred after Soles, a prominent lawyer and legislator, offered him a ride and the two ended up at Soles’ lakefront home. The 4,000-square-foot home, built in 1968, sits on a secluded two-acre site just outside the city limits.

Soles served him beer and mixed drinks, Jay said. He said he passed out from the alcohol and awoke to find Soles performing oral sex on him. He then was raped, he said. He described the event in graphic terms that CJ has chosen not to use in this publication.

Jay said there were many other sexual encounters with Soles over a period of approximately six months. He said the relationship ended when he left town to stay with other relatives. He did not tell his parents about his encounters with Soles. Jay returned to Tabor City when he was 18 years old, saying it was his impression that Soles preferred relationships with minor teens and he no longer had to fear him. Jay no longer lives in Tabor City.

WWAY-TV in Wilmington has reported that, over a period of years, the Tabor City 911 dispatcher has received numerous calls regarding violent encounters between Soles and young men, either at his law office or his home.

Soles placed some of the calls, sometimes bypassing the 911 system altogether and calling the mobile phones of Tabor City police officers. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported in October that during one two-week period in 2008, police went to Soles’ home seven times.

Credible allegations

Wilmington psychologist Dr. S. Michael Plaut, who was on the faculty at the School of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland for 35 years, and who is past president of the Society of Sex Therapy and Research, is an expert on professional-client boundaries and sexual exploitation.

Plaut reviewed CJ’s videotaped interview with Jay and said he also has reviewed a videotaped interview Jay did with WWAY, which had yet to be aired at press time.

“To me it sounded very credible,” Plaut told CJ at his office Oct. 24. “It is very unfortunate what allegedly happened to him. But what he says is consistent with what I have heard in other cases of a similar nature which I have been involved in over the last 25 years or so.”

Coming forward

Jay told CJ that he decided to come forward recently after seeing several news stories about Soles’ interactions with young men. A report that Soles had shot a man at his house in August led Jay to fear that Soles was becoming unstable and could bring harm to Jay or others. In that incident, Soles shot 22-year-old Thomas Kyle Blackburn in the leg when Blackburn and B.J. Wright, 23, both clients of Soles, were allegedly trying to break down the front door of his home.

In addition to the CJ and WWAY interviews, Jay said he also has spoken with agents from the State Bureau of Investigation.

Jay said he also has talked by phone with Soles’ attorney, Joe Cheshire of Raleigh, to inform him about the interview with WWAY. Jay told CJ that he is not seeking money by coming forward, but thinks Soles should be in prison for what he has done to him and others.

Cheshire and Soles did not respond to requests for an interview about these allegations.

The SBI is part of the N. C. Department of Justice and is under the authority of Attorney General Roy Cooper. Before being elected attorney general in 2000, Cooper served in the N. C. Senate with Soles for 10 years. Justice Department spokeswoman Noelle Talley confirmed to CJ in an e-mail that the SBI is investigating the shooting incident and allegations made by another Soles legal client, Stacey Scott, who said that more than a decade ago, when he was 15, Soles tried to molest him.

In August, WWAY reported that Scott, now around 27, said Soles once gave him $35,000 in cash. Scott later changed his story about the molestation attempt, claiming he was high on drugs when he gave the interview, but not before District Attorney Rex Gore and Tabor City Police Chief Donald Dowless asked the SBI to investigate Scott’s claims.

Recent incidents

Wright received $8,000 from Soles while serving time in prison, WWAY reported. Both Blackburn and Wright have been in prison and were legal clients of Soles.

Also in August, Allen Strickland, 17, another client of Soles, was arrested for allegedly burning down a house that Soles bought for him. Soles also bought Strickland a Corvette, even though Strickland does not have a driver’s license.

Strickland recently wrecked the car. Strickland, who appeared in Columbus County District Court Oct. 23 for previous traffic violations, told CJ he did not have an attorney for the arson case.

While Soles was not Jay’s attorney at the time the incidents allegedly occurred, Plaut said a power relationship existed without an attorney-client arrangement.

“There is a power differential between the two people. So whether he was acting as his attorney at the time may not be fully relevant. He was a powerful, wealthy figure in the community,” Plaut said.

WWAY also has reported that subpoenas and interviews with some of the young men confirm that a federal grand jury is investigating Soles. CJ has confirmed there is some type of federal inquiry of Soles.
